Body balance is an exercise with warm up. It involves the use of a water bottle (with water) to slightly increase the weight for arms. In the warm up, you are asked to lift the upper limbs or lower limbs one by one. In the exercise, it requires you to lift parts of the upper limbs and lower limbs simultaneously. In each movement, you will need to count 3 seconds to hold his pose before putting your limb(s) back to the starting position.
By involving both sides of the limbs to move, it aims at strengthening the bilateral coordination of your child. This exercise helps to build up balance over time via practice. In addition, the whole activity itself requires skills to follow instructions. This helps improve the ability of your child to follow along with the daily instructions. As this activity helps to strengthen the limb muscles, it might be useful for engagement in sports and exercises which require balance.
Extension: Increase the time from 3 seconds to more seconds in each exercise.
Tips: When you lift up your arm with a bottle, avoid hyperextension of the elbow. When you lift up your leg, avoid hyperextension of the knee. To make the exercise easier, hold on something stable such as a handrail or a wall.
