Mirror Squigz is a wonderful way to enhance various fine motor skills like finger strength and finger control. For this activity, your child sits on a chair or exercise ball and is encouraged to reach across their body to find and remove Squigz from a mirror or window. This exercise requires your child to move their head, creating an engaging challenge that helps with vestibular sensory processing, colour identification and recognition.
Tip: If you do not have Squigz ,you can use anything that can stick well to a wall, window or mirror e.g., Blue-tack, magnets, stickers, post-it notes.
Please note that different items used in this activity can help work on different fine motor skills. For example, post- it notes would require less force than squigz but would work on your child’s ability to manipulate their hands to grasp and pull off the note.
