Simon says Feelings will help your child understand the connection between emotions, behaviours, facial expressions and body language and help build an awareness of feelings.
This is like the classic game Simon says instead of actions, feelings and emotions are used. You can play this game by saying “Simon says be happy or Simon says show me you’re angry” If your child enjoys this game you can add the element of needing to remember to hear “simon says” before showing the emotion.
If an expression doesn’t quite match the emotion this is a great opportunity for discussion about how people look and act when expressing certain emotions
When beginning this activity, you can start with simple emotions such as sad, happy or angry and can progress to more complex emotions such as jealous or brave. You can take turns with your child which is a great opportunity for modelling!
